Automated Bear Trap Patent Almost Approved!

We recently received a call from our patent attorney stating that our patent request has been researched and found to be original. We will soon have an approved patent on the Automated Bear Trap!

The Automated Bear Trap was used this summer in Western Montana by MT FWP. The trap captured five management bears this year.

The Automated Bear Trap is currently bring retrofitted with a new state of the art wireless system provided by Verizon Wireless. This new system will greatly improve the bear traps wireless capabilities. Thanks to a grant by the Foundation we are able to maintain the bear trap through the 2011-12 season.

Automated Bear Trap in the News

It has been awhile since I have posted. Yesterday our automated bear trap was in the local news here in Missoula Montana. I have attached the link to the news story. Unfortunately the bear caught in the trap was a problem bear and had to be put down. This is why we always talk about being responsible with your garbage, bird feeders and other attractants. It is so important to respect wildlife so things like this do not have to happen.

We would very much like to thank Montana FWP for giving us the opportunity to work with them. It has been their advice and support that has made the automated bear trap a success.

    Stay tuned for more updates....
